La voz de su amo / HIS MASTER'S VOICE
Made in Spanish

Bilbao, 1980. Sullen thirty-year-old Charli works as right-hand-man to a shady businessman of Portuguese origin, Oliveira, in a climate of corruption and terrorism. Alarmed at a wave of threats and assaults, Oliveira's decision to put his teenage daughter, Marta, under Charli's protection, is followed by a series of complications: love arrives unasked, the violence engenders more violence, friends aren't what they seem to be and money changes hands.
EMILIO MARTINEZ-LAZARO Madrid, 1945. Worked as a director of dramas with Spanish television's TVE, and wrote screenplays. He won the Golden Bear at Berlin with Las palabras de Max (1976), later redirecting his cinema towards comedy in its different forms with: Sus años dorados (1980), Lulú de noche (Lulu by Night, 1985), El juego más divertido (The Most Amazing Game, 1987), Amo tu cama rica (1991), Los peores años de nuestra vida (The Worst Years of Our Lives, 1994) and Carreteras secundarias (Backroads, 1997).
