Una casa con vista al mar / A HOUSE WITH A VIEW OF THE SEA
Made in Spanish

The Andes, 1948. Upon the death of his wife, Tomás Alonso and his son Santiago are left alone in their mountain farm with a yoke of oxen and a field of wheat. Sometimes in the afternoon Tomás plays the violin. The arrival of a foreigner combined with an unexpected incident set the story in motion: on the one hand is the longing and anxiety that the father and son have invented for the sea and, and on the other, the indecision of Tomás as to whether he should be a conformist and a coward, or else prove by murderous violence that he can defend his son.
ALBERTO ARVELO Caracas, 1966. Film director and writer, his first feature, La canción de la montaña, was an experimental work. In 1996 he wrote and directed Candelas en la niebla and in 1997 Una vida y dos mandados, a film which participated in numerous international festivals. In 1998 he won the award for best script from the Centro Nacional Autónomo de Cinematografía in Venezuela for La hoz y el forastero.
