A mother, a daughter, a neighbour. Alone yet together, these people cultivate frustration and reproach in anonymous, empty environments, weaving a dull, unhealthy relationship of dependence. There are ways out, particularly for the daughter, but she fails to take advantage of them in the routine and boredom ruling their lives. And by the time the explosion rips out from inside these lives, it will be too late: it's all three or nothing. La espera was selected as a result of its presentation in Cinéma en Construcción (Films in Progress, Toulouse, March 2002)
