Extraño / Foreigner
Horizontes Selection

Somewhere in his 40s, Axel has given up his profession as a doctor and has temporarily moved in with his sister and her children, leading a lacklustre life. Most of the time he does nothing but exist. But one day he meets a young, pregnant woman. A relationship develops, a kind of love, and they live together, clinging to one another like the shipwrecked to driftwood. But Axel's movements are hesitant and he soon goes to visit an old love.
Studied at the INCAA Centro de Experimentación y Realización Cinematográfica in Buenos Aires. He has worked as an assistant director and screenwriter, having directed his first short film, Islote, in 1989. He has subsequently made a number of documentary and fictional shorts and medium-length movies, mainly in video, while Extraño, marking his directorial debut in feature films, won an award at Rotterdam 2003 and was selected last year for Films in Progress with its working title (Grieta). He moreover directs plays.
