Sa-lin-eui chu-eok (Memories of Murder)

Gyunggi Province, South Korea, 1986. The body of a young girl is found brutally raped and murdered. Two months later, a series of rapes and murders commences under similar circumstances. And in a country that had never known such crimes, the dark whispers about a serial murderer grow louder. A special task force is set up in the area, with a local detective, Park Doo-man joined by a detective from Seoul who requested to be assigned to the case, Seo Tae-yoon. However, the solution to the murders grows fainter and drives the detectives to ever greater despair. The film is based on a true story.
Born in 1969, he studied film at the South Korean Academy of Cinematographic Arts. His graduation short, Incoherent, captured the critics' attention. He later participated in writing the screenplay for Phantom, The Submarine, an enormous commercial success in his country in 1998. His first feature, Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000), was shown at San Sebastian Festival before attending various international festivals.
