Márcia is a single mother with two children. She works as a cook and shares her house in the Lisbon suburbs with her sister, Ivete, a hairdresser in a shopping centre. One day, Cláudia, her daughter, who is studying to become a nurse and works at a supermarket checkout, tells her mother that she?s fallen in love with an older, married man. On meeting the man in question, Márcia realises that her family is in serious danger. Joca, her son, is a small-time local drug peddlar who decides to do a dirty on his own supplier, but gets caught, obliging his aunt Ivete to make great sacrifice in order to save him.
