A continent expands its horizons
Friday, September 19th, 2014

There will be 14 Latin-American films in this year’s Horizontes Latinos competing for the Horizontes Prize worth 35,000 Euros. Many of them have been shown, and have won prizes, at major international festivals, but have not yet come out on general release in Spain.

One of the most outstanding films in this section is Jauja starring Viggo Mortensen, which won the Fipresci International Critics’ award at Cannes this year, while the Mexican road movie Güeros won the prize for best debut film at the Berlin Festival.
Several other films that were screened in Berlin will also be coming to San Sebastián and the section also includes anumber of films that have been completed thanks to receiving support in the post-production phase through being shown in Films in Progress here last year. Two international co-productions that were both screened at Cannes, two Argentine films and a Brazilian film that were screened at Locarno, and another screened at Rotterdam, round off the section.
