A great Rumanian actor back at a festival he really loves
Saturday, September 20th, 2014

The Rumanian film and theatre actor Vlad Ivanov is currently in San Sebastián where he is forming part of the Official Jury. He’s already familiar with the city as he visited it in 2007 when he was promoting Cristian Mungiu’s 4 months 3 weeks 2 days and he has fond memories of the Festival and of San Sebastián. It’s his first time on a film jury and he confesses that he’s really looking forward to working with other prestigious professionals such as Fernando Bovaira, the Official Jury president, who he got on well with when he came to Spain to shoot the TV series Crematorio five years ago, a series that was produced by Bovaira.

He says that his personal tastes tend more towards arty films and although he acts in a variety of genres, he often gets cast as a villain because of his physique. One of his most recent roles was in the science-fiction film Snowpiercer by Joonho- Bong which he loved because it gave him the chance to work with such great actors as Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris and John Hurt.
