French directors delve into the subconscious
Monday, September 21st, 2015

The French directors Jean-Marie and Arnaud Larrieu presented their latest film 21 nuits avec Pattie in the Official Section at the Festival yesterday. Accompanied by the actresses Isabelle Carré and Karin Viard, the actor Sergi López and producer Bruno Pesery at the press conference they gave after the screening of the film, the brothers explained that they had delved into their characters’ subconscious. The main character gradually undergoes a regression back to her childhood, although the directors claimed that they hadn’t intended to develop a psychological story about a mother she had hardly known.

Karin Viard confessed that she had blushed when she first read the crude dialogue in the script as she was so embarrassedthinking about how she was going to have to say these lines for the first time, but when it came to shooting the film, she found she was able to do this quite naturally.
