The privilege of a life less ordinary
Saturday, September 26th, 2015

The award-winning British actress, Emily Watson, received this year’s Donostia Award from the director of the Festival, José Luis Rebordinos, at the Kursaal last night. She dedicated the award to all the people who had helped her to make her life more interesting and recalled the early years of her career, acknowledging how lucky she felt for the life she had led. “I’ve spent my career trying to be other people so I feel naked being myself, but I’m really grateful for this award. Thank you, José-Luis; thank you, San Sebastián!”

She stressed how making a film was a collaborative process so she could never have been here if it wasn’tfor all those people she had worked with. She wanted to thank all of them from the very bottom of her heart for the great privilege of playing so many interesting roles, whose lives were more interesting than hers. She concluded by saying that she couldn’t have done any of this without the help of her husband and her agent of the last twenty years, and that on their behalf she was accepting this award.
