Maite Arroitajauregi
Irizar Basque Film Award Jury

Born in Eibar in 1977, Maite Arroitajauregi graduated as a Cellist at the Vitoria-Gasteiz Higher Conservatory. Having played in several groups, including Anari, Lisabö and Xabier Montoia, in 2009 she created Mursego, her solo project, bringing out her first record (Bat), presented live on stages from Paris to Rome. Since then she has continued to find her own musical language, endeavouring to create an avant-garde, folk and classical music hybrid resulting in countless concerts and another two CDs (Bi and Hiru, released in 2010 and 2013 respectively). Over and above specific collaborations in the world of dance and theatre, she set about creating a productive career in the audiovisual world, putting music to several shorts, such as El rito, 2012 and Herencia by Isaki Lacuesta, or Cólera by Aritz Moreno, in addition to composing the soundtrack for the feature films Invisible Víctor Iriarte and Emak Bakia by Oskar Alegria, the latter of which was presented in the Zabaltegi section of the San Sebastian Festival in 2012. In 2015 she joined forces with Javi Pez to compose the soundtrack of Asier Altuna’s Amama, presented in the Official Selection of the San Sebastian Festival and winner of Best Score at the Montpellier Film Festival.
