José Luis Torres Leiva

José Luis Torres Leiva has produced a long list of independent feature and short films, such as Ningún lugar en ninguna parte (2004), Obreras saliendo de la fábrica (Women Workers Leaving the Factory, 2005), El tiempo que se queda (2007), Trance (1-10) (2009), Primer día de invierno (2009) and Tres semanas después (Three Weeks Later, 2010), which he presented at myriad international film festivals. El cielo, la tierra y la lluvia (The Sky, the Earth and the Rain), his first fiction-length film, premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2008, where it won the FIPRESCI prize. His second feature, Verano, screened in the Orizzonti section at the Venice Film Festival. In 2013 he made three documentaries, Ver y escuchar, Qué historia es ésta y cuál es su final, about the films of Ignacio Agüero, and El brazo de Sandow, as well as the medium-length musical, 11 habitaciones en Antártica. Last year he released El viento sabe que vuelvo a casa (The Wind Knows that I’m Coming Back Home), with the performance of Ignacio Agüero, presented in the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section of the San Sebastian Festival in 2016 and winner of multiple awards at international festivals. El sueño de Ana (Ana’s Dream), his most recent short film, premiered at this year’s Rotterdam Festival and will be screened here, at the San Sebastian Festival.
