A Lynch disciple who found his own voice
Wednesday, September 26th, 2018

The students who are taking part in the Nest Film Students Meeting, which has been organized for the seventeenth year by the San Sebastián Festival, had the chance yesterday to watch the latest film by Peter Strickland, In Fabric, which is competing this year in the Official Section. After it had been screened, Strickland was responsible for giving the second masterclass of the week to the young film students from all over the world.

The British director confessed that until he reached the age of sixteen, he had wanted to be a botanist. But then he came across Eraserhead and David Lynch’s film messed up his plans. “In my early years working as a director, all I did was copy Lynch,” Strickland said. “It took me years to find my own voice.”
