In Fabric is set against the backdrop of a busy winter sales period in a department store and follows the life of a cursed dress as it passes from person to person, with devastating consequences.
Peter Strickland’s first feature, Katalin Varga (2009), was produced independently over a four-year period. The film won a Silver Bear in Berlin and the European Film Academy’s Discovery of the Year award. The San Sebastian Festival included it in its “Eastern Promises” retrospective (2014). Among his later films are Berberian Sound Studio (2012), winner at the British Independent Film Awards of Best Director and Best Actor, and The Duke of Burgundy (2014). He also directed the documentaries The Film that Buys the Cinema (2014) and Björk: Biophilia Live (2014).
