A spoiled and pampered little four year-old who finds himself being ignored on the birth of his little sister Mirai, Kun struggles to cope with the new situations thrown at him in his home. But suddenly the teenage version of his sister travels back in time from the future to share with Kun an extraordinary adventure of unimaginable proportions.
Mamoru Hosoda worked for several years for the Toei Animation and Madhouse companies before creating, in 2011, his own animation workshop, Studio Chizu. Outstanding on his filmography are Toki wo kakeru shojo (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, 2006), Sama wozu (Summer Wars, 2009), Okami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki (Wolf Children, 2012) and Bakemono no ko (The Boy and the Beast, 2015), which competed in the Official Selection at the San Sebastian Festival. Mirai was screened in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes Festival.
