Leningrad, a summer in the early 1980s: the city’s rock scene is at boiling point. Viktor Tsoï, a young musician who grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, T-Rex and David Bowie is eager to make a name for himself. The meeting with his idol Mike and his wife, the beautiful Natacha, will change his life forever. Together they will build a legend that will make them immortal.
Kirill Serebrennikov is a theatre director, writer and designer. He made his feature film debut with Razdetyye (1998), followed, among others, by the TV movie Spisok vlyublennykh RF (2003), Izobrazhaya zhertvu (Playing the Victim, 2006), Yurev den (Yuri's Day, 2008), recipient of a Special Mention from the Ecumenical Jury and Youth Jury Award winner at Locarno, Izmena (Betrayal, 2012), which competed at the Venice Mostra, and Uchenik (The Student, 2016), presented in Un Certain Regard at Cannes. Leto was a contender in the official competition at Cannes 2018.
