The Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum dedicates its "Focus on" to Poland
A delegation of ten producers from Poland will come to San Sebastian to discover the Festival and participate in the Europe-Latin America
Co-Production Forum and in the other Industry activities
Thursday, August 29th, 2019

The Focus on is an initiative intended to facilitate the presence at the Festival of industry professionals from a specific country or territory, preferably from the field of production, in order to expand their network of professional contacts and participate in the Festival’s Industry activities.

For the 67th edition, and thanks to collaboration of the Polish Film Institute, ten producers will attend San Sebastian to increase their opportunities of co-production with other countries in Europe and Latin America.

Poland is a country with a consolidated cinematography and an industry increasingly more focussed on the development of co-productions. Also from this year, it offers a tax relief system launched by the Polish Film Institute.

The presence of Polish productions in the different sections of the San Sebastian Festival has risen notably in recent years. Following the world premiere in the Official Selection of Plac Zabaw / Playground in 2016, six Polish productions and co-productions participated in different sections in 2017 and 2018. This year co-productions with Poland programmed at the Festival are The Other Lamb by Malgorzata Szumowska (Official Selection) and Os Caminhos do Meu Paí / The Paths of My Father by Mauricio Osaki (Films in Progress).

The initiative was launched in 2014 with the Focus on Canada, thanks to the collaboration with Telefilm Canada; said territory enjoyed such great success that it was once again the subject of the Focus on in 2015. In 2016, in collaboration with the Danish, Icelandic and Norwegian film institutes, we organised the Focus on Nordic Glocal, serving as a starting point for the Glocal in Progress activity, whose first edition took place in 2017 and was dedicated in 2018 to the Baltics.
