Films in Progress 37 is opening its registration period
The next Films in Progress will be held on the 26th and 27th of March 2020 within the framework of Cinélatino, Rencontres de Toulouse
Friday, November 8th, 2019

Films in Progress, the dual annual event at the San Sebastian and Cinélatino Toulouse Festivals, has opened the registration period for submitting works at Films in Progress 37.

This initiative aims to help to finish off Latin American feature films that are having problems at the post-production stage. Six films selected by the committees of both festivals will be screened for an audience of professionals so that they may help to get them finished, distributed and screened at festivals.

Films in Progress has helped to finish off and market some of the most outstanding Latin American feature films and boosted the profile of new talents like Jayro Bustamente, Ciro Guerra, Emiliano Torres, Pepa San Martín, Lorenzo Vigas, Mariana Rondón, Alejandro Fernández Almendras, Benjamín Naishtat, Sebastián Lelio, Amat Escalante or Pablo Larráin, among others.

Jorge Riquelme Serrano's Algunas bestias / Some Beasts, winner of Film in Progress 35 Toulouse, won the Kutxabank – New Directors Award at the last San Sebastian Festival, the international competition of first and second films. Other films have been selected and earned recognition at prestigious international festivals after having been selected at Films in Progress: Los Tiburones / The Sharks by Lucía Garibaldi (World Cinema Dramatic Competition – Sundance Festival, Best Director Award); Ceniza negra by Sofía Quirós (Semaine de la Critique - Festival de Cannes); El Príncipe / The Prince by Sebastián Muñoz (Settimana della Critica – Mostra de Venezia, where it won the Queer Lion Award); Blanco en Blanco by Théo Court (Orizzonti – Mostra de Venezia, Best Director Award and FIPRESCI Award); Agosto by Armando Capó (New Directors - Festival de San Sebastián); or La paloma y el lobo (antes, La estabilidad de los tres cuerpos) de Carlos Lenin (Cineasti del Presente – Locarno Festival).
