Roger Michell (Pretoria, South Africa. 1956) has directed plays at the National Theatre, the Old Vic, the West End and Broadway, among other places, and was the resident director of the Royal Shakespeare Company for six years. Worthy of mention in his film career are titles such as the hit comedy Notting Hill (1999), nominated for three Golden Globes, The Mother (2003), presented in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes Festival, Enduring Love (2004), based on the homonymous novel by Ian McEwan, Venus (2006), for which Peter O’Toole was an Academy Award contender, Le Week-End (2013), which earned Jim Broadbent the Silver Shell for Best Actor in San Sebastian, and My Cousin Rachel (2017).
