Tsujiguchi Hironobu is a famous Japanese pastry chef who has won five times at the Salon du Chocolate in Paris, but is still not satisfied with himself. The film follows his journey around Japan and Ecuador on the trail of certain ingredients to complete his new chocolate recipes.

BIOGRAPHY

Takashi Watanabese (Miyagi, Japan. 1979) joined TV Asahi Productions in 2003 to produce news programmes, many of which were documentaries about people. With time, he carried out more than 100 interviews on characters including prominent writers and leading figures in the political and business circles. Likewise, immediately after the Japanese tsunami, he set about collecting information on the spot, having continuously reported on the situation in the disaster-stricken area ever since. In 2012 he produced a documentary programme focused on the Japanese explorer Hayabusa, the gem in the crown of Japan’s technology. Le chocolat de H is his directorial debut.
