On 11 May 1896, in the Price circus, owned by Englishman William Parish, the Hungarian Edwin Rousby, using an animatograph, screened the first moving images ever shown in Spain. Based on that event, our narrator, Antonio Resines, sets about compiling a series of anecdotes until lending shape to an astonishing history, that of our cinema. The narration is combined with testimonies by directors, actors and producers, all illustrated with images from the films to which they refer.

BIOGRAPHY

Antonio Resines (Torrelavega, Spain. 1954) is mainly known for his extensive career as an actor—in films such as Ópera prima, La colmena, La buena estrella (The Lucky Star, Best Actor Goya), Amanece que no es poco, La niña de tus ojos (The Girl of Your Dreams) and La caja 507 (Box 507)—and in television, particularly for his role in the series, Los Serrano. He was also the chairman of the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Ana Pérez-Lorente (Madrid, 1965) has worked as head of locations and production at Mandarina Producciones and was a production assistant on the series El hombre de tu vida. Together with Antonio Resines she wrote his memoires: Pa’ habernos matao. Memorias de un calvo. Both are debuting as directors.
