Tenki no ko / Weathering With You
Perlak

The first year of high school, summer. Hodaka runs away from his home on an outlying island to come to Tokyo. Soon he has no money, but after many days of solitude, he eventually finds work as a freelance writer for a dubious occult magazine. Rain falls day after day as if taking its cue from his life. One day, though, Hodaka meets a girl in amongst the hustle and bustle of the big city. Hina is a cheerful, strong-willed girl who lives alone with her little brother due to a series of circumstances. BIOGRAPHY

Makoto Shinkai (Kuomi, Japan. 1973) directed, in 2002, his first short film, Hoshi no koe (Voices of a Distant Star), on which he did just about everything. Since then, he has become one of the leading exponents of Japanese animation thanks to titles such as Kumo no muko, yakusoku no basho (The Place Promised in Our Early Days, 2004), Byosoku 5 senchimetoru (5 Centimeters per Second, 2007), Best Animated Film at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Koto no ha no niwa (The Garden of Words, 2013) Best Animated Film at the Stuttgart Festival, and Kimi no na wa (Your Name, 2016), his greatest success to date, screened out of competition in the Official Selection at the San Sebastian Festival. Tenki no ko (Weathering With You) was presented at the Toronto Festival.
