A couple from Burgos, Alfredo and Teresa, travel to New York where they intend to “switch off” and do all of the things listed in the guidebook. But the moment they land they start to notice signs, some subtle and others rather less so, that in fact they’re not in the city sold to them by the travel agency. So where are they? 

BIOGRAPHY

Juan Cavestany (Madrid, 1967) has written and directed, among others, the feature films Gente de mala calidad (2008), with which he competed at the Malaga Festival, Dispongo de barcos (2010), El señor (2012), Gente en sitios (2013), Sant Jordi award for Best Spanish Film, Esa sensación (2016) and Madrid int. (2020), the first Spanish film on the COVID-19 lockdown. In 2017 he co-directed, with Álvaro Fernández Armero, the series Vergüenza, shown in Zabaltegi at San Sebastian. He has also written screenplays for films including Los lobos de Washington (Washington Wolves, Mariano Barroso, 1999) and Guerreros (Warriors, Daniel Calparsoro, 2002). In 2008 he won the Max for Best Theatre Author in Spanish for Urtain, a production by the company Animalario, with which he has collaborated since it began.
