While her husband is on a business trip, Gamhee meets three of her friends. She visits the first two at their homes, and the third she encounters by chance at a theatre. While they make friendly conversation, as always, several currents flow independently above and below the surface of the sea.
Hong Sang-soo (Seoul, 1960) made his directorial debut in 1996 with Daijiga umule pajinnal (The Day a Pig Fell into the Well). Since then, he has composed a prolific filmography particularly including titles like Hahaha (2010), Un Certain Regard award at Cannes, U ri Sunhi (Our Sunhi, 2013), Best Director award at Locarno, and Ji-geum-eun-mat-go-geu-ddae-neun-teul-li-da (Right Now, Wrong Then, 2015), winner of the Golden Leopard at that same festival. In 2016 Dangsinjasingwa dangsinui geot (Yourself and Yours, 2016) nabbed him the Silver Shell for Best Director at San Sebastian Festival, which the following year was selected at Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section for Geu-hu (The Day After, 2017). With Domangchin yeoja (The Woman Who Ran) he won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the last Berlin Festival.
